Fees and Costs

Improving the way you look is very affordable

Cosmetic surgery is an excellent investment in your well being and  is no longer a luxury reserved only for the rich and famous. These days Cosmetic surgery done by competent Plastic surgeons is very affordable.

The vast majority of the patients undergoing Cosmetic surgery are Middle Class and Working Class women and men who want to look and feel better and be more competitive in the workplace.  65% of those undergoing cosmetic surgery today have family incomes under $50,000.   In fact, cosmetic surgery is one of the few medical specialties where the average bill has gone down. And while procedure fees may still seem high, the overall costs have fallen because many procedures formerly done in the hospital are now performed in same-day surgery centers.  So now people from all kinds of income brackets, both male and female, who choose to have plastic surgery, can now afford it.

A lower price is not always a bargain,
A higher price is not always a guarantee of a better surgeon

While the most expensive surgeon is not necessarily "the best", there may be significant compelling reasons for a surgeon to charge the lowest fees in town. If "shopping" by phone for the "best deal" in plastic surgery, beware of "low-balling". Make sure you know what you are quoted; a surgeon’s fee vs. the TOTAL fee for the procedure. The total fee is higher since it would include the surgeon’s fee, the operating room cost, the anesthesia fee and any special charges (such as implants or laser fees). In general, the costs for each procedure are a general range for the surgeon's fee, the hospital facility fee, and the fee for the anesthesiologist. Be aware that some operations cannot be realistically quoted on the phone without an examination.

"Free" Cosmetic Surgery Consultations and Phone "Price Quotes"

No TRUE professional gives away his or her services to all comers. Look around you and see who does so; The field is popluated by personal injury lawyers who want a lion's share of your settlement, some insurance salesmen and a variety of home services salesmen; all with dubious credentials. Physicians offices that offer "free" consultations usually operate like a bargain basement sale and treat you like one of their shoppers. Oftentimes, the physician's credentials and reputation do not stand up to careful scrutiny and preclude him or, her from competing with other reputable surgeons in the community. The office staff is a true sales force and is often compensated a percentage commission of the value of consultations (i.e. you) "converted" into (i.e. sold) surgical cases. The entire focus of the visit is to minimize your interaction with the doctor, to gloss over any potential complications of the procedure you may be considering and to get you to sign up. Obviously, should you need more time with your surgeon afterwards, or should you encounter a complication, you will rapidly discover that your time with the same surgeon would be even more limited. After all, these practices operate on a volume NOT the quality of their care and surgical results.

Would you respect a phone estimate promised by a builder who
never saw your house or your plans ?

Why would you trust ANY fees promised to you on the phone by someone who has not even taken the time to personally see and examine you ?

Would there be more work involved ? Could there be a better procedure to accomplish what you wanted ? What kind of a professional treats all patients like interchangeable parts in a auto repair shop ?
While cost IS important, it is NOT THE most important factor in picking YOUR plastic surgeon. Surgery on yourself is not the sort of purchase that should be decided primarily based on the lowest price. Do not regard it as any other commodity. Remember, this is not a car you are buying; this is your body. In choosing your surgeon, you should be concerned primarily with his / her quality and only secondarily with cost. You owe it to yourself to carefully check your surgeon's credentials and reputation.  It would be wise to pick someone who you feel listens to you and understands your concerns. Seeking consultations with several plastic surgeons is a small but smart investment in picking the right surgeon for you.

Fees

Financial considerations, nonetheless, are important since the vast majority of Cosmetic Surgery procedures are not covered by insurance plans. In our commitment to make our cosmetic procedures fairly priced and very affordable we researched and set our fees to be extremely competitive, not only within our own metropolitan Memphis area, but also in comparison with fees charged elsewhere in the United States. This remains applicable even when travel and lodging expenses are added.
Finally, there is a new and disturbing trend in Plastic Surgery- medical tourism. Many Americans intent on lowering the cost of their cosmetic surgery procedures have opted to leave the United States and have their procedures done abroad. The attraction of these “cosmetic surgery vacations” has been the combination of apparently discounted cosmetic surgery (when compared with prevailing costs in the largest American cities), with travel to exotic countries (such as India, Thailand, Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, or Malaysia).
However, medical tourism is not risk-free. Most likely, your communications skills would be hampered by the language barrier, you do not know the surgeon, his/her training, or his staff. Is your chosen surgeon qualified? Are the medical facility and equipment safe? Although there are many qualified physicians practicing all over the world in excellent facilities, it can be difficult to verify the surgeon’s training, or the standards of medical facilities and equipment. Should the procedure encounter any complications, however minor, your vacation would be ruined and additional, unexpected costs will appear wiping any theoretical savings. All of this – thousands of miles from home without your friends or family. How will your post-operative care / follow-up and any complications be handled? Finally, although enticing, most vacation activities should be avoided after surgery, and a long return flight increases the risk of developing a pulmonary embolism and blood clots. To get an idea of the current average surgical fees for the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures, please click on this link to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.(This document is in Adobe Reader format and you will need to download that free software to view and print this document.) Our doctors' fees are VERY competitive with and often lower than these charges.
We do charge a small initial fee for a consultation with one of our doctors. But, should you go on to have your surgical procedure with us, this fee will be completely deducted from our doctors' surgical fee, retrospectively making your consultation complimentary. Since all people are different, your total procedure cost will vary according to the operating time involved, the surgical facility utilized, the type of anesthesia used and the actual duration of your surgery. The final price depends on variables unique to each person (i.e. their size, their particular anatomy and their wishes). Therefore, the cost of your procedure can only be estimated after a personal consultation with Dr. Aldea or Dr. Eby.  Unlike some plastic surgeons, we do not wish to bring in potential patients with false promises of low fees. For these reasons, we prefer not to publish our fee schedule on the web nor provide surgical fee estimates on the phone. After your consultation and examination with either Dr. Aldea or Dr. Eby, you will be provided with a total fee estimate. Moreover, If you undergo several cosmetic procedures, the total charge would be further discounted to less than the sum of the surgeon’s fees for the individual procedures when done separately.

Generally, Dr. Aldea's and Dr. Eby's Fee would include:

  • The surgical professional fee
  • Your initial pre-surgical Consultation (becomes free IF you have your surgery with us; Since its fee is fully deducted from the doctor’s surgical fee) - If needed, up to 3 pre-operative visits are included in this fee
  • Three visits before surgery and as many visits as you may require for 1 year after your cosmetic surgery
  • Breast Implants and post-surgery garments, if applicable

In addition, The TOTAL cost of your Surgery Fee estimate also includes:

  • Anesthesia Fee estimate
  • Surgical Facility Fee Estimate

We provide the following payment options : cash, cashier’s check and Visa or Mastercard credit cards. (Please Note: For your safety, Credit card payments cannot be given over the telephone or the web. When using a credit card of someone other than the patient, that person must come in, present a photo I.D. and sign the credit card receipt). In addition, we also have financing options customized to your individual needs and we participate with two finance companies for your convenience. Among the many finance companies available, we have found that these two companies to be the most user friendly and offer the best rates. They offer credit worthy individuals several repayment plans to choose from.

Financing Your Surgery

No need to postpone your surgery because of finances...

Today's financing plans makes cosmetic surgery so affordable, practically anybody can afford it. (please click HERE for a short ABC video on this topic).

A cosmetic procedure may appear to be unaffordable initially, but if you break down the costs on a monthly basis, it could be extremely manageable.  Financing may provide you an affordable way to reach your goals. Think about the cost of your gym membership, a vacation or a new car. A cosmetic procedure (a breast aumentation or a tummy tuck, for example), is a fraction of the cost. But - it will mean much more to you in the long run. In some cases, depending on your occupation, you may even be able to deduct the entire procedure cost from you taxes. (Please consult your tax advisor to see if you are eligible).
You may wish to finance your surgery through your bank or credit union. If affordability is a concern, we will be happy to explore financing options with you. If you would rather look elsewhere to finance your surgery, our office can put you in contact with either Med Loan Finance, KaraServus Finance, Capital One Healthcare Finance or other plans our office participates with.
