When I got pregnant with my first child I weighed 115 lbs. I gained 70 lbs while pregnant (he only weighed 6 lbs 6 ozs) and it took me a year and a half to lose most of the weight I had gained. A few months later I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I only gained 42 lbs with her but she was 9 lbs 2 oz. I was huge and she sat extremely high the entire time. Upon giving birth my OB warned me that my abdominal muscles were spread as far as they would go and it would take time to get them back where they needed to be. I completed physical therapy and tons of oblique exercises weekly for a year and a half and nothing would relieve the pain or the bulge in my abdomen. My PCP and my OB both advised for me to get a plastic surgeon consult to have my muscles repaired. My husband and I met with Dr. Aldea in October 2018 (not our first consult, we had a consult with another PS in the area first) and when we walked out we both knew he was the ONLY one we wanted to perform this surgery. Dr. Aldea took his time during the consult to get to know us both, to listen to our concerns and to get all the facts. He wanted to know what exactly my goal was and he made recommendations and explained to us why he thought it would benefit me. We scheduled the surgery immediately for Dec 14, 2018 and when we went in for the pre-surgical appointment he again made sure we knew exactly what was going to happen and how to prepare and what to do post-op. His right arm Lilly will give you her phone number and she will be there 110% all the way to help if you have a question or need ANYTHING at all. The day of surgery Dr. Aldea made sure my husband was informed hourly of how things were going and he met with my family after to explain what he did and what he needs from them to help guide my recovery. He is a true MASTER and ARTIST and he takes pride in his work. He makes sure that he is up to date on the latest and greatest techniques and he performs the surgery with your safety as TOP PRIORITY. I ended up having a 10-12 cm separation and I now how abdominal muscles that will support me and I can now function and play with my kids pain free. Dr. Aldea gave me my confidence back and has made my stomach feel and look like it did before kids. Thank you Dr. Aldea and Lilly for being there for me and my husband all the way and treating us like family. You have exceeded every expectation!!!! Once I recover fully I am going to have Dr. Aldea and his wife Dr. Eby fix my encapsulation that I did not even know I had until I told Dr. Aldea that I had been having some right side pain in my breast and asked him to see if my right side looked off to him at one of my post-op visits.

My entire experience with Dr. Eby and her office staff was remarkable. There was never a moment when I did not feel at ease. From my friendly interaction with Gail, the receptionist when scheduling my consultation to my lovely encounter with Lily, Dr. Eby’s nurse, who coached me through preparing for my surgery. Moreover, Dr. Eby’s calming bedside manner greatly reassured me. I instantly knew I could trust her to not only produce miraculous results but also outstanding care. She answered any and every question thoroughly, providing evidence based practice to support her reasoning. Most importantly, my results are amazing!!!!! I would not change my decision to undergo my breast augmentation with Dr. Eby for the world. To say that I am pleased would be an understatement. I could not ask for a better surgeon.

Hello Dr. Aldea!

I am doing well. Just wanted to drop a few lines to let you & Dr. Eby know that I have recovered rather well. I am so very pleased with my results! ( I feel like a hottie now!) LOL!

Seriously, I am so glad that I had my tummy tuck & breast lift. My husband LOVES my breasts. I can’t keep his hands off of them! He also loves the fact that my tummy tuck resulted in my vagina being lifted as well (??? I guess that is a guy thing???)

I do plan to return for my post-op photos but I want to try to make my waist a little smaller first (sit ups). I want to have pictures of my before/after for my personal photo journal. (It helps to keep me focused on staying fit & healthy.)

I don’t mean to take too much of your time, but I wanted you to know that I am very pleased to have had you & your wife as my surgeons.

When I first met with you, I had already consulted with 2 other plastic surgeons (1 here in Memphis as well as 1 in Nashville,TN) & had another pending appointment with another “top” surgeon in Nashville. I knew after the consultation that you indeed were the surgeon I had been searching for.

Your confidence (without arrogance) made me very comfortable in choosing you.
You answered every question imaginable & your bedside manner is second to none.
I never felt rushed nor did you use your knowledge & expertise to play down my concerns. I can truly say that if it was of concern to me, it concerned you as well.
Your expertise is very apparent in your meticulous work as well as you & Dr. Eby’s credentials.

These are the reasons why I went through with the surgery. Prior to seeing you, another Memphis plastic surgeon left me feeling rushed (like I was a part on an assembly line). It just was a weird kind of uncomfortable feeling that became a concern for me. After that,I kept putting it off.

Please give Dr. Eby a big hug from me. She really “worked it out” in regard to the issue I had about the excess skin on the sides of my breasts (see my before pictures). Again, my husband LOVES them!

I want you to know that through surgery, you have helped me to reclaim my self esteem. My confidence is through the roof! I owe that to you. I am 36 but I feel like I am 26! I stay in the mirror! I have taken more pictures this summer than I have since I was 18 years old! (My daughter says she is going to GIVE me her digital camera because I always have it! LOL!)

“… I was lucky enough to find my doctor on the first consult. As soon as Dr. Aldea showed me the vision he had for me and explained that I needed muscle repair, I knew it made sense. The problem wasn’t my weight, I was close to my ideal weight but my tummy looked terrible. I still wanted to do more research though. However, I was scared to set my expectations too high. I couldn’t really believe that I could actually get results like that. I figured I would only see a small improvement if any, but I decided to go for it.

…. I just thought-whatever happens…happens. I never believed I would wake up with a flat tummy! The first time I got a look at my flat tummy with no stretch marks my mouth dropped. I NEVER allowed myself to expect anything like that. I honestly couldn’t believe it!

My recovery went very smooth. My doctor told me to get up and move around as much as possible and I think this is what helped me have an easy recovery. … I know everyone heals differently, but I believe that moving around really helped me heal faster. I would advise anyone having this surgery to not lay around or sit too much, it will only make you stiff and sore. Get up as much as you can and move around slowly. The only pain I really had was from the muscle repair. It felt like I had done about a million situps! But every time I looked in the mirror I couldn’t believe the results I saw and it was so worth it.

… I took two weeks off work. Before my surgery I didn’t tell anyone at work about it, mostly because I really didn’t believe the surgery was going to ‘work’ and I would be embarrassed because I was still fat. But when I went back I told everyone who asked (and some who didn’t) because I was so excited about my results I wanted to share! Everyone had almost the same reaction—they want a TT too! Two close friends are actually getting a TT this summer.”

I guess my only regret is that I waited so long, I should have had this done long ago. I spent years being unhappy with myself, what a waste of time!

Tummy tuck and Breast Augmentation/ Lift

We LOVE receiving drawings and letters from our pediatric patients ! Nothing cheers a plastic surgeon as much as a letter from a child.

Such letters encourage us to continue doing what we do by serving as a joyful reminder on how much is sometimes at stake and just how much plastic surgeons can improve young lives.

I received the “Before-and-After” artwork (to the Right), from Emily, one of my all-time favorite patients.

Emily was a very intelligent, musically gifted, beautiful girl who was shy and withdrawn because of congenital prominent (lop) ears. Her otoplasty (lop ear correction) went smoothly and she blossomed. (Please, see her touching letter below)
